WEEK 7 - Receive Your Promise
Receive Your “Promised Land”
God is revealing a bigger picture about "entering into His rest" for all believers. He is showing us that as we listen to what He is actively saying and walk in obedience to that in faith, then we are able to enter into His rest, which is our “promised land.”
The reason taking possession of our “promise” is synonymous with entering into His rest is because He already prepared it for us, and He is the “One” doing it in partnership with us. When the Israelites spied out the promised land, in their own strength it was too difficult to conquer! The giants were too big, and the walls were too fortified. They were right about that–because they did not factor in their calculations the supernatural force of God being “on their side.”
We can easily make the same mistake. When God invites us into our “promised land,” it will not be possible apart from him. It is a divine setup for us to build relationship and dependency on him! It is a chance for God to show up on our behalf to prove his love and goodness towards us.
Hebrews 4:6-7 (NLT)
6 So God’s rest is there for people to enter, but those who first heard this good news failed to enter because they disobeyed God. 7 So God set another time for entering his rest, and that time is today. God announced this through David much later in the words already quoted:
“Today when you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts.”
